Bonnier News

Network and automation for a media house publishing around the clock.

News doesn't wait for a change window. We built a network where changes can be made safely in the middle of the news flow.

The challenge

The problem on the table.

Bonnier News publishes continuously across a large number of titles and newsrooms. The network tied together editorial systems, production environments and external suppliers, but every change required manual work, and the risk of changing anything meant people preferred not to. The result was lagging configuration and an operating environment that was hard to troubleshoot under time pressure.

The solution

What we built.

We introduced network automation with version-controlled configurations, standardized templates and validation before rollout. Changes went from being risky one-off efforts to repeatable, reviewed steps. In parallel, we built monitoring and alerting that points to actual impact on the newsrooms instead of isolated port alarms.

How we worked

Four steps, no surprises.

1
Inventory

We documented what was actually running, not what the diagram claimed.

2
Standardization

Templates and naming standards made the network understandable to more than one person.

3
Automation

Rollout via pipeline with validation before every change.

4
Monitoring

Alerts and dashboards describing the newsroom's reality.

The result

What changed.

  • Configuration changes are made safely even during live publishing.
  • A version-controlled network, every change can be reviewed and rolled back.
  • Faster troubleshooting thanks to alerts tied to real flows.
