The problem on the table.
Viaplay's Content Engineering wanted to unite on-premise solutions with cloud-based services on a shared platform. Development teams needed to move services between environments without major rework, while security, costs and observability stayed consistent.
What we built.
Our DevOps team built EKS on AWS and RKE2 (Rancher) on-prem as a shared Kubernetes surface. The entire infrastructure was set up as code with Terraform. Ready-made configurations for observability and log management, CI/CD in GitLab, automated team onboarding, and security with AWS IAM and Kubernetes RBAC. A lightweight FinOps solution was wired directly into the teams' chat for daily cost insights.
