Ownit

Robust network operations for a city network operator with demanding customers.

When the connection is the product, there's no margin for error. We worked on stability, visibility and clear escalation paths.

The challenge

The problem on the table.

For an internet service provider, the network isn't a support system, it's the entire product. Ownit needed to raise robustness in operations and change management, while the support organization needed better information to quickly determine where a problem actually was.

The solution

What we built.

We worked on network design, operating procedures and monitoring: clear standards for how changes are made, improved monitoring with actionable alerts, and documentation that makes troubleshooting possible even for someone who didn't build the solution. Where manual work kept recurring, we introduced automation.

How we worked

Four steps, no surprises.

1
Review

We started with the incident history, what recurs, and why?

2
Design

Robustness in the core network and clear standards for change.

3
Monitoring

Alerts that point to cause rather than symptom.

4
Routine

Documented ways of working that the whole team follows.

The result

What changed.

  • Fewer recurring incidents in the core network.
  • Support gets an answer on where the fault lies, faster answers to customers.
  • Changes happen by routine instead of improvisation.
