Home automation, computer games and his own IT lab, including a Kubernetes environment, are not just interests but part of his everyday life. For Brian, technology is more than a hobby: it is a way of life that drives his career forward.

From Linux guru to DevOps innovator

Brian has a broad technical background and many years of experience in the industry. He has a particular fondness for Linux and open source, but also plans to focus heavily on Python.

“I have spent a lot of time in IT-Ops, but DevOps is the future, and I want to help shape it,” Brian explains.

Expertise on client assignments

His latest assignment was at one of Sweden's largest telecommunications operators, where he played a central role as an expert in Linux environments and daily operations. His responsibilities included lifecycle management and automation, as well as being the contact person for the team managing the outsourced Linux environment, with a particular focus on RedHat Virtualization.

“Getting to work with systems I had only heard about before was incredibly rewarding.”

An important part of the assignment was also initiating upgrade projects for older systems such as CentOS 7, which was approaching the end of its lifecycle, and planning the transition to RedHat 9 as the new operating system.

Brian began his career at SDNit in November 2022, having faced a choice between two workplaces.
